Kuro Kaneko (1902-1982), landscape architect
Studied landscape architecture at Tokyo University, and graduated in the Faculty of Agriculture. Gained experience in a practical way as children’s play leader for the Municipality of Tokyo for eight years. Head of Yokohama Park Department for five years.
Director of the Japanese Children’s Playground Association.
He visited Europe for the first time in 1958 and again in 1961 with a special interest for the European playground and the adventure playground. He traveled to London, Zurich, Düsseldorf, Copenhagen, Hälsingborg, Stockholm, Lille and Brussels.
The Teppozu Children’s playground (opende 1935, re-designed and re-constructed in 1962) is sited near a primary school.
